Last Saturday I attended the annual Halloween Parade in Tom's River New Jersey. I have to say it was awesome to see so many from the community embrace the spirit of Halloween.
Halloween is right around the corner and what better to celebrate by visiting a haunted attraction! Last night I visited Night of Terror at Creamy Acres Farm in the beautiful southern New Jersey town of Mullica Hill. http://www.nightofterror.com/
I have been going to haunted spooky attractions for years now and I have to say Night of Terror is one of the best Ive ever been too! Night of Terror features 6 scary attractions plus zombie paintball. I went with friends and family and glad we arrived early. It was Friday night and by 7 o clock this place gets very crowded and packed. "Shop Halloween"
The Hayride of Terror was very atmospheric featured amazing detail and nice combination of large animated props and scare actors that jumped on the ride while we rode.
After the hayride we entered cornfield maze and was chased around with chainsaw lunatics I laughed as my sister freaked out as it took us 20 mins to find the exit out.
Frozen tundra none of us could see very well it was so foggy The 3D fun house was definitely one of the scariest they gave us the 3D glasses to wear that made the clowns glow. "SHOP HALLOWEEN NOW"
Overall this place was great and definitely worth the $25 WAWA convenience stores have $5 discount coupon off the $30 admission price.
Its not Halloween without the legendary horror movie icon from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy Krueger! "Shop Halloween at 2COOLGHOULS"
That why I am reviewing the Freddy Kruger 2 in 1 Masks from Rubies. The front mask tears off and reveals a second mask underneath.
This mask is full over head mask has standard eyes, nose and mouth openings and two small opening around the ears. "SHOP 2CoolGhouls for Halloween"!!!!
The second mask is secured with velcro enclosures on both sides of the mask.
Last week I saw Annabelle, the much anticipated prequel follow up, to the wildly successful horror film, The Conjuring. This film features the twist demonic doll that was featured in The Conjuring film and loosely inspired Chucky and the Child's Play films. Backstory of the film is set in the 1960s, with a young married couple living in California.
Wife Mia loves dolls, Husband John buys pregnant wife doll that happens to be Annabelle, which is a doll possessed, and all hell brakes loose. Mia and John experience a home invasion by two members of a Satanic
cult. A female cult member stabs Mia in the stomach just as the police
arrive and is shot, bleeding onto the Annabelle doll as she dies. The married couple and baby survives and is born fine. However, there is a deep supernatural uneasiness lurking underneath
the surface, and the couple moves homes after Mia begins to experience
paranormal events she believes are linked to the attack. James Wan scares are highly effective in Anabelle especially seeing them on the big giant screen at the Drive Inn. "Shop 2CoolGhouls for Halloween"
The scene in the basement and the elevator creeps me out the most without giving to much away. Overall Anabelle wasn't as good as The Conjuring but still good Halloween horror flick to see on a Saturday night.
Elvira The Mistress of the Dark, Queen of Halloween brings back her horror host show with 13 nights of Elvira that will air on hulu http://www.hulu.com/elviras-movie-macabre
The announced line up of films are Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (which stars a young Bill Maher), Evil Bong, Seed People, Shrunken Heads, and finally on Halloween night, Elvira will skewer the classic zombie movie that started it all, Night of the Living Dead.
I just got the Rubies Costume's version of Michael Myers Halloween Deluxe Mask thats new for 2014. Not to be confused with the masks put out by Trick or Treat Studios, Rubies has the license for the first Halloween film from 1978. I have to say for a mask under $50 dollars its not bad.
The back has perferated opening. Overall this mask doesnt compare with the Trick or Treat Studios level of quality but for under $50 its a good quality mask. #MonthOfMyers #Halloween
The Horror genre has mainly been set for movie theaters, but throughout the years, there has been some cool horror based TV shows. Its seems that not only was the 1980's a goldmine for fans of horror films, but also, for horror on TV.
One of my favorites was Tales from the Darkside, that was created by horror movie icon George Andrew Romero. It ran from 1984 to 1988 and featured 89 30 min episodes in the four years it ran.
I think my favorite all time episode was Halloween Candy where this grumpy older man gets some payback for being mean to trick or treaters on Halloween
Another lesser known Horror show was Werewolf that aired in Fox TV from 1987 to 1988 it produced 28, 30 min episodes. It featured one of the coolest Werewolf transformations I've seen
Next is Freddy's Nightmares which was riding the wave of success of the A Nightmare on Elm Street films
It ran from 1988 to 1990 which produced 44 hour long episodes. It featured Freddy's sarcastic humor it which he would introduce a different episode each week it aired.
Next is Monsters which carried the same tradition of Tales of the Darkside different stories but this show stayed within the Horror genre. I remember the intro sort of mocking suburbia with the monster family all sitting at home watching The Monster TV show. This show also ran from 1988 to 1990 and produced 72, 30 min episodes.
The best show of them all and my personal favorite was Tales from the Crypt. This show ran from 1989 to 1996 on HBO and spawned several movies, a cartoon series, and lots of merchandise.
Tales from the Crypt had one of the coolest intros
Many of these shows still run on the Chiller channel http://www.chillertv.com/ if you have cable or satellite TV
as a bonus here is a episode of the Tales from the Cryptkeeper Cartoon
Just saw the trailer for the upcoming horror film The Houses October Built just in time for Halloween. Basic premise of the films showcases a group of friends who want to find the ultimate in scary haunted attractions and end up getting more than the bargained for! "Shop Halloween at 2CoolGhouls"
I saw the new As Above So Below horror suspense film last Saturday night. Given all the trailers I saw for the film, I was pumped to see it. Having watched it, it came off like a twisted version of Goonies, but with a ending that didn't seem to make sense.
Film starts out with a student who wants to find a healing stone in the city of the dead, also known as the catacomb's of Paris where at one time, was where the people in Paris, France buried the dead. She eventually gathers a friend, and group of tunnel experts, to uncover the secret of the tunnels in the catacomb's. "SHOP Halloween at 2CoolGhouls"
Eventually all hell breaks loose when the team lose their way in those dark creepy tunnels, and the undead come alive and wreck havoc on the team of tunnel explorers.
Members of the team find the stone, and it used to revive some from near death, while others end up not so lucky.
The ending was lackluster, and I wasn't a fan of all the shaky film camera angles that make you nausea after seeing them too much. Overall the set designs were creepy, and it was a pretty unique film. I would watch again on Netflix.
